Birkebeinerrennet

Experience breathtaking sceneries as you challenge yourself on the 54 km journey across two mountains in Birkebeinerrennet, a classic style cross-country skiing race. Named to honor the fraction Birkebeinerne, who in the 13th century safely brought the king's son to safety, the race has been an integral part of Norwegian culture since its inception in 1932. All participants must be 16 years old, carry a backpack weighing at least 3.5 kg throughout the race, and start at Rena and finish in Lillehammer.
