Hellbender 5k & Half Marathon

The Hellbender race is a scenic and environmentally conscious event that takes place along the beautiful Weiser State Forest in Bear Gap, Pennsylvania. The race offers both a half marathon and a 5k, with proceeds benefiting the RCVCA organization dedicated to promoting clean water in the area.Participants will enjoy a flat and fast out-and-back course that winds along reservoir lakes and through the Roaring Creek Tract in the forest. The race begins and ends at the Route 54 parking area, conveniently located between the towns of Elysburg and Mount Carmel.

Named after the native aquatic salamander, the Hellbender race aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the natural habitats of these unique creatures. As runners take on the course, they will also be supporting efforts to protect various species in the area while enjoying the picturesque surroundings of the Weiser State Forest.
