Bundle Up Against Cancer 5K Run/Walk

In October 2020, the Gateway Regional community mourned the loss of a beloved member, Cheryl Baldosaro, to cancer. To commemorate her enduring influence on our community, we are organizing the fourth annual "Bundle Up" 5k run/walk. This event is a tribute to Cheryl, as she despised the cold and always sought warmth, and it serves as a meaningful way to remember her legacy within the Gateway Regional family. We are deeply honored to announce that the proceeds from the 2024 Bundle Up Against Cancer 5K will be dedicated to two meaningful causes. Firstly, the event will support the daughters of Jamie O'Neill, another beloved Gateway teacher whom we tragically lost to cancer this year. Our goal is to provide much-needed assistance and support to Jamie's daughters, helping them navigate the challenges that lie ahead. In addition, a scholarship fund will be established in honor of Cheryl's memory, with the aim of benefiting Gateway seniors on an annual basis. This scholarship will serve as a lasting tribute to Cheryl's legacy and her dedication to education. By awarding scholarships to two deserving Gateway seniors each year, we hope to carry on Cheryl's commitment to nurturing the next generation of students and supporting their dreams and aspirations. REGISTRATION INCLUDES: Bundle Up Against Cancer 5K Crew Neck Long-Sleeve Shirt Finisher Medal Awards: Age Group Awards: Awards will be for the top 3 individuals in each age group.  WHEN:
The race begins Saturday, April 13th, at 9 am with packet pickup beginning at 8:00 am! This year's event will partner with Gateway Regional High School's Gator Day!  Festivities will continue until 12 p.m. You can also pick up your swag bag on April 12th at Gateway from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
WHERE:
The race begins and ends at Gateway Regional High School and runs through Woodbury Heights.  GROUPS/TEAMS:
Register with multiple people at a time and lower the website fees! Also, create or join a group when you register and challenge each other for the best times. Perfect timing for spring sports preseason! The group with the largest number of members will get their name printed on the back of the shirts with the rest of the race's sponsors.

ABOUT CHERYL: Cheryl Baldosaro was a beloved member of Gateway Regional's faculty. She passed away in October 2020 at 52 and her absence has deeply affected the Gateway community. Cheryl was a special education teacher and spent most of her time teaching Academic Skills, working tirelessly with struggling students to help them with their classes. She was known to bring in snacks for her students and magic cookie bars for her colleagues. She also enjoyed beaming with pride when she talked about her children, Jessi and Alex, as well as her husband of 29 years, Anthony. Cheryl was almost always cold and wore layers of shirts, sweaters, and turtlenecks, hence the theme of the 5k! Everyone who knew her loved her and appreciated her. Cheryl was kind, friendly, and approachable, and her friends were lucky to know her.
