Champions Trail Race to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs

We are excited to offer a community SWIM RUN (or walk) that utilizes the beautiful NTC pool--with distance options for ALL ability levels.  

Presented by Clermont Triathlon Club in partnership with National Training Center, Sommer Sports & Clermont Police Dept., to benefit  Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida--South Lake Branch.  

All participants will start by swimming laps in the pool and then they will grab their shoes and head out for the run/walk portion of the race.  After completing the out and back course, participants will finish under the arch near the pool and receive a finisher's medal--and awards for top finishers.

All events are open to Adults & Youth.  We have a distance for everyone:

Sprint: Swim 250 yards (10 lengths) in pool, Run/walk 5K Super Sprint: Swim 100 yards (4 lengths) in pool, Run/walk 2 milesMini Distance: Swim 50 yards (2 lengths) in pool **can be assisted**, Run/walk 1/4 mile

All Boys & Girls Club members (South Lake branch) along with 1 parent or guardian can participate for FREE!

We will be helping underserved youth prepare for the event with swim lessons through  South Lake Aquatic Club. 

We will also be offering learn-to-swim sessions for adults through our partnership with Lake Gators Swim Club.

Awards given to Overall M/F winners in each event AND TOP 2 M/F finishers in the following age groups for each event:

Your age at the end of the year is your official race age for this event

More race details:

We plan to have at least a 10 second gap between each starter depending on total number of participants.  Starters will be asked to line up based on approximate swim speed with fastest swimmers at the front of the line.  There will be room to pass a swimmer if needed.  If the swimmer behind you touches your foot, you can opt to stop at the next wall briefly to allow them to pass.  This is a courtesy and you are not required to do so.  

Race start:  You will cross a mat on the deck and your race time will start.  You can opt to dive into the water from the deck, pencil dive and push off the wall, or get in slowly and start swimming once you're ready.  Warning:  your goggles may come off when diving--so you may want to practice that.

Swim finish:  There will be a ladder for you to use to climb out of the pool.  You will then jog to your shoes and proceed out the gate.  Please do not sprint on the pool deck or change directions too quickly.

For the Mini-distance, parents/guardians are allowed to accompany young children through the entire course.  If the child cannot swim, and they are using a flotation device, an adult must accompany them through the entire swim.

There will be a water station on the 2 mile and 5K run courses.
