Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit! 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Walk

Roads close at 8 a.m., warm-up is at 8:15 a.m. and 5K begins at 8:30 a.m.

Novice or advanced runners of all ages are invited to attend the 18th Annual Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit! 5K Run/Walk and One-Mile Walk to support older adult health and fitness by raising much-needed funds for County senior exercise classes and fitness centers.

Event Details

The One-Mile Fun Walk is perfect for our youngest and oldest participants. The 5K race is chip-timed and professionally managed by Charm City Run. To celebrate National Senior Center Month, National Falls Prevention Day and Active Aging Week, free fall prevention and health and fitness screenings will be offered, as well as vendor tables and displays.

Note: Masks are optional for this event/race.

Parking: 5K runners and walkers park in Lot 1; one-mile walkers park in Lot 2.

The entirety of the route will be on the campus of CCBC Essex. For safety reasons, the race course is closed to animals, bikes, skaters and baby joggers or strollers.

Schedule

The event will be held rain or shine. There are no refunds if participants are unable to attend after registering.

Registration Fees

Seniors (60 and older): $20 (discount will be applied at check-out)

Adults (18-59)
$30—Early Bird Special: Register by August 16
$35—Between August 17 and September 14
$40—Day of the Race

Juniors (6 to 17): $20 (discount will be applied at check-out)

Children (5 and under) - (discount will be applied at check-out)

VIRTUAL RACE OPTION

We have created a virtual race option for those who would like to participate but are not local, or are unable to attend the in-person race.  Here's how the virtual race works:

Register for the virtual event, and sign up for text or e-mail notificationsUnfortunately we are unable to mail any of the virtual race shirts. You are able to pick up your shirt at the Packet Pick-up location listed below or at any a senior center post race. To coordinate pick up at a senior center please email ccook@baltimorecountymd.gov.You'll receive a text or email (if you opt in) when the race "starts" on September 14th.Run your race and submit your results either by text message or email (if you've opted in) or by heading to the results page here by September 15th at 11:59 PM Eastern Time). Results update in real time as people submit their times. Be sure to take a selfie and post on social media.

*Virtual race performances are not eligible for the event awards, but we'll certainly be acknowledging the winners in our post-race communication.

Team Registration

Build morale, camaraderie and community by forming a team with your senior center, company, social club, family or friends. We encourage you to wear team t-shirts on race day!

Participants must be present to claim medals and door prizes.

The fastest three male and female 5K finishersThe top two male and female runners in the following age categories  15 and under16 to 1920 to 2930 to 3940 to 4950 to 5960 to 6970 to 7980 to 8990 and over
Door Prizes

Random door prizes will be awarded, including four Fitness Pays VISA gift cards, worth $200 (1 count) and $100 (3 count), sponsored by Van Dyke and Bacon Shoes.
