Trans-Pecos Ultra

The Big Bend is an area of western Texas, USA, that extends along the border of Mexico and includes the counties of Brewster, Jeff Davis, and Presidio. It is marked by the Rio Grande's northward bend between the Chisos Mountains of Texas and the Sierra Madre Oriental of Mexico. The region is quite remote, arid, and hilly, featuring both the Chisos and Davis Mountain Ranges. With over a million acres of public land, Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park are found on the North side of the Rio Grande. Every year, the Trans-Pecos Ultra is hosted in the region, a multi-stage ultra marathon that spans 163 miles and is the only one of its kind in Texas. This 10-day adventure is a great opportunity to visit the Big Bend and explore the Chihuahuan Desert, the second largest desert in North America.
